Eastcoast and Christmas

The last few weeks have been really busy with lots of relaxing on the beaches and surfing isolated as well as crowded waves on the eastcoast. There's not a lot to talk about, so here are a few impressions from the last month:

a massive stick-insect

After a 30 hours trip from Germany to Australia, Riva and Nadine finally arrived :-)

While Riva was taking a nap before we were heading off to the beach...

...Nadine was doing the dishes ;-P.

Totally refreshed from the trip, enoying the sun and the beach.

On the track to a hidden surfspot...

...where the locals were already sharing some waves.

Watching the dolphins from the shore.

  Heading out for a christmas-photo-session.

Sharing a party-wave, just like the dolphins.

Goldcoast - Byron Bay - Noosa

After having enjoyed the islands, we decided to travel a little bit along the coast, searching for some nice waves, which also Mathis and Bine could manage.

Burleigh Heads

Dinner time. Trying to do some "Rösti" on the BBQ. It was more or less successful though...

Bine and Mathis paddling out to catch some waves at Snapper Rocks.

 Bine catching her wave...

...when suddenly the yellow something at the right hand side of the picture...

....decided to "catch" the wave as well (it was more of an accident as she tried to paddle over the wave and got turned around by it, interesting technique though)...

...pushing herself confidently onto her feet...

 ...to surf over Bine's board...

...regardless of anything which might be in her way.
Not bad, weird yellow surferchick with the g-string! ;-)

After the session we went on travelling towards Byron Bay with a short stop over at Bunnings, where Mathis finally got his hat.

The spit at Surfers Paradise.

 Byron Bay

 "The Mexican" paddles out :-)...

...catches a small wave...

...and rocks it mexican style.

Having dinner at the beach in Byron.

That's what it looks like when the Australien "Abiturienten" (schoolies) meet to celebrate

 Nice outdoor disco (silent disco)

That's a lot of Sushi :-)

Christmas time = Summer time :-)

Moreton Island

Next destination: Moreton Island
Moreton Island is a beautiful Island 40km offshore from Brisbane Habour. This amazing island is a famous holiday and weekend destination to mostly Australians due to its adjacency to the mainland. Apart from the nice beaches and campsites with stunning ocean views, it offered us a nice snorkel spot at a ship wreck, surf and swim.Well, what can we say, it was very relaxing and the absolute contrary to the adventurous Fraser Island.

Just taken off from Brisbane Habour for a 75mins ferry ride to Moreton.

 Hello Moreton Island :-)

Having a quick stop at the wreck before heading out to our campsite.

 Dolphins next to our campsite

  View from the Lighthouse

Setting up our camp at the Northpoint Campsite.

It looked like a thunderstorm would hit the beach soon. And the surfspot really didn't look like a lot of fun...

...so there was time for a little nap...

...and relaxation under the umbrella :-)

We spent our last day snorkelling at the wrecks.

Bye, bye Moreton. See you soon :-)
